The year is coming to an end and even when there were many difficulties due to the pandemic, lockdown and restrictions, after writing this wrap up we realized we had many good things to be happy about at Engelnest Coworking.

Our community has expanded, our members‘ companies have grown, we have hosted and learned from different events and we have inaugurated new areas in our coworking.

We proudly invite you to read our year review and meet our community through our photo galleries! Maybe next year you are there too!

Our 12 Highlights of the year

1.- Happily we had zero covid-19 infections this year!!

2.- We launched our current website in January with the help of Ozan, who is our first member ever and has his own web design agency: Website Connection.

3.- Alex and Arne from Realtime Robotics joined us in March. Now they are a team of 4 with the incorporation of Peter and Mehmet, moved to our biggest office and acquired also an extra room in the cellar for their robots!

4.- Our members were able to fully enjoy our kitchen, lounge and terrace. There were team parties, community BBQ’s, a PhD celebration and even a thanksgiving dinner! We were also glad our kitchen was the perfect location for the several online (and also offline) cooking workshops hosted by Restlos-Glücklich.

5.- The Online Fitness Academy, which started as a project in 2020, became a GmbH this year. We congratulate our dear member Jan who, with this transition, became the CEO of the OFA.

6.- We hosted the English premiere of Wajiira: Ancestral Land of the Wayuu, a documentary produced by verdewelt which shows the environmental and social threats one of the biggest indigenous groups of Colombia are facing.

7.- Off University joined us in September, being the second social-oriented and non-profit organization inside Engelnest 🙂

8.- After being postponed in 2020, InfraLab Berlin celebrated its Sommerfest last summer with guests from various Berlin Senate administrations, partners of the InfraLab and employees of its member companies: BSR, BVG, Berliner Wasserbetriebe, GASAG, Stromnetz and Vatenfall Wärme. There was also vegan and zero waste finger food by Restlos Glücklich.

9.- We partnered for a second year with Zero Waste Berlin Festival, sponsoring their seating and networking area made completely pallets plus providing other materials – avoiding any single-use purchase!

Special mention to Ramona Holzer from Restlos Glücklich who participated on the panel Solutions for 12 million tonnes of Food Waste – Meet the game changers and BSR (one of Infralab’s companies) for being an exhibitor at the festival with their second-hand mall Nochmall.

10.- Probably the biggest highlight of 2021 was the so expected inauguration of Der Weinkeller! After more than one year of works, we finally inaugurated it with the event by Startupgefluester and the Human In Motion Summit, besides a couple of private birthday celebrations.

We’re very excited about what can happen here in 2022!!

11.- Our space has happily grown a lot since we opened so our team also needed to grow: in November we welcomed Ideal as our new Office Assistant.

12.-  Even politicians visited Engelnest!

– In January Dirk Behrendt, Senator and lead authority of the Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination of Berlin (Senatsverwaltung für Justiz, Verbraucherschutz und Antidiskriminierung) was interviewed here together with Restlos Glücklich and United Against Waste for the Grüne Woche ’21.

– In May for the International Day against Homophobia, Bi-, Inter- and Transphobia ? (IDAHOBIT) a rainbow electricity box was inaugurated in front of our coworking space. Thomas Schäfer, managing director of Stromnetz, Angelika Schöttler, Schöneberg’s Mayor, and Christopher Schreiber from the Lesbian and Gay Association Berlin-Brandenburg gathered here to express their institutions‘ adherance to the values of diversity, tolerance and respect, ethics we fully support at Engelnest.

– During June Franziska Giffey and Kai Wegner, back then candidates for the Berlin Mayor Governance, visited InfraLab Berlin and meet with its chairwoman Claudia Rathfux. Together with Michael Biel (Schöneberg candidate for the AGH), they discussed the ways Infralab is working towards a smart and sustainable Berlin and how to collectively achieve those goals with a citizen-oriented administration.

We want to thank our members, partners and community for trusting, supporting and teaching us every day. Nothing of this would be possible without you, and we hope to be your nest for the years to come!

Let’s see what 2022 has for us!
